Well the most anticipated movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil earning very huge amount from box office. The expectations from the movie is very high because Karan Johar is returning 4 years after ‘Student Of The Year’ and he had a solid star cast in Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too. Well movie is currently maintains its good earning at box office. But the odds throughout the campaign were stacked against the film. There were threats of boycott because it featured Fawad Khan, there was a bigger film ‘Shivaay’ which was also scheduled to release on the same day and many though ADHM might only appeal to the urban audience.
Well movie already recovered 75% production budget before its release to sold Satellite Right, Music Right and Digital rights. In short, even after including the distribution margin of Fox Star Studios, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has to recover only around Rs 29 crore from theatrical business – a figure that would be covered just from the overseas business of the film. ADHM also very big budget movie and the production budget of the movie are 103 crores. The movie recovered 74 crores to sell all rights. However, a big film like ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ cannot be declared a hit if the domestic net box office collections aren’t equal to or higher than the costs.

ADHM Friday Eight Day Box Office Collection
Movie also shows very decent earning in overseas markets. The movie till date earned $7 Million (Rs.46.67 crore) in just 5 days. At the end of the 6th day, it looks more or less certain that ADHM has won the controversial box office clash and could further extend its lead in the second weekend. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has maintained its lead over Shivaay for the 6th consecutive day at the box office.
ADHM has also become the highest grosser of Karan Johar’s career, beating the collections of all his previous films without adjusting inflation. If the film does well in its second weekend, ADHM could become the biggest domestic success for Johar after Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001.
